Tej Kohli Animation Guide

You’ve no doubt seen it in action, and have a vague idea of how it works, but what exactly is Animation and how can it help you grow your business profits?

In its simplest form, Animation is a visual display which provides an illusion of actual motion via rapidly moving images. Each image contains a small change from the previous image, such as a slight bodily movement which, when viewed rapidly, completes the mind’s ‘circuit’, leaving your imagination to fill in the blanks.

Originally created at the beginning of the 20th Century, by rapidly flicking through the pages of animated cartoon picture books, its modern manifestation is in the form of motion pictures and video/DVD cartoons.

The business application of animation

Using simple animations can enhance your prospect’s overall website experience, and add to the “stickiness” of your site. When combined with additional audiovisual effects, it can become a powerful marketing tool.

Some of the few downsides of animation include the labour-intensive nature of the work, where each frame is produced on an individual basis (depending on the format used – for example, the Wallace and Gromit series of animations need two hours of filming for one second of action). The process can also be costly, which necessitates the use of a film studio and specialist equipment.

The good news is that computer animation requires far less work and investment, and can produce results which are just as good, if not better, than those coming from film studios.
