So, yeah the Dell’s XPS brand is back with a new family of laptops powered by Intel’s Calpella platform and featuring Nvidia’s Optimus technology. At this point if some of you are wondering what am I talking about, because the XPS never went anywhere, you are both right and wrong. Although the XPS moniker never waned completely, it was relegated to Dell’s Studio range and XPS One all-in-one desktops for a while.

Dell says they have decided to simplify their brand structure in response to their consumer’s demand. After realizing the XPS brand has a glorious past and strong association with performance, the brand is re-entering the market with the aforesaid laptop series. In this post Tej Kohli will review the Dell XPS 14 (L401x) that features a 14 inch LED screen, Intel Core i5 460M processor, and Nvidia GE Force GT 420M Graphics. Tej Kohli reviews IE9 Beta by Microsoft!

The newly launched Internet Explorer 9 Beta by Microsoft come packed with many innovate features including, site specific jump lists, task bar shortcuts, a brand new layout and and a unified search and address bar. With the latest version of IE, Microsoft has tried to extend the browser’s compatibility with present day web technologies like HTML 5 and CSS 3. Microsoft claims that IE9 is faster than its predecessors as it maximizes your PC’s hardware components, particularly your graphics processing unit.

That’s not all, the new browser has managed to win over critics for being a fast, attractive and easy to use internet browser. But the sad part is the IE9 is not available to XP users.

Sites As Apps

With IE9 you can turn your favorite websites into launch icons on your taskbar, essentially generating web apps. All you need to do is grab the tab of the website you want to visit, drag it down and drop over the task bar. An icon will be created on your taskbar picking the site’s favicon as image.

Jumplists

Another great addition to IE9 is the jumplist feature. Once you’ve pinned a site to your taskbar, just right click on the icon to see the shortcuts for that website. For example if you’ve pinned facebook, you will find shortcuts to newsfeed, messages, events and friendlist. In Twitter you can write a new tweet, see your direct messages, mentions, favorites and search.

Look Right

IE9 has simplified its controls and shifted the home, settings and bookmarks icons over the top right of your browser window. The bookmarks icon has tabs for your bookmarked sites, browsing history and RSS feeds.

Unified search and address bar

Like Google Chrome, Microsoft has also incorporated a unified search and address bar in IE9 called the One Box. The default search engine is Bing with options to switch to Google and Yahoo. Other search providers you can use are Facebook, Wikipedia and many others.

If your search provider is not on the list, you can also add your own search provider.

Other Features

Like Mozilla IE9 too has a new download manager that allows users to pause, restart and cancel downloads. In a nutshell, IE9 Beta is a great next-gen web browser and its worth giving a try if you have Vista or Windows 7 on your PC.

June 2010 brought the most awaited super-gizmo of the year – The iPhone 4 by Apple! While Apple claims it “the biggest leap since the original iPhone”, most buyers are apprehensive about shelling out $199 and subscribing with AT&T for another 2 years without even knowing what they are getting!

With more than 1500 upgrades available, what leaves us wondering is which of these are really important. Although it wont be wrong to say that iPhone 4 has surpassed every other smart phone by leaps and bounds, but if you really discard your iPhone 3, you should know what is fluff and what is not? As compared to the HTC Evo 4G and Droid Incredible, the iPhone 4 boasts the longest battery life.

7. Get an upgrade from AT&T – Many were unhappy to discover that iPhone 4 would be tethered to AT & T, which is notorious for its erratic service and the recent step to quash unlimited data plans. The gizmos are the first-ever camcorders targeted at consumer market from a pioneer electronics manufacturer. As per the company’s announcement the devices will be made available at retail outlets from August 20 onwards.

The outer appearance of device is similar to a standard camcorder and is capable of capturing conventional 2D videos and images. However, it features an additional conversion lens that almost doubles the camera’s size and allow users to capture in 3D.

While the TM750 model boasts a colossal 96 GB storage capacity, the TM650 can store data up to 64 GB. Furthermore, the cameras can also record onto SD memory cards.

Videos taken on the camcorder can be viewed on a 3D TV. The last few months have seen major consumer electronics makers like Panasonic among others, pushing 3D televisions as the first pro 3D content begins to appear on Blu-ray Disc and through TV networks.

Panasonic has yet not announced the prices for the two camcorders, and is also tight-lipped about when they would launch them in other countries.

After unveiling a professional 3D camcorder earlier this year, this step indicates Panasonic’s rising interest in consumer market.

February 9 marked a new epoch in the history of social networking when the world’s most popular search engine launched Google Buzz, a new service the company is promoting as a ‘new approach to sharing.’
Integrated into the Google’s already popular gmail email service, buzz is designed to counter the increasing power of social networking sites like Facebook, and twitter, plus in an attempt to make Google a more central online venue for users.

Google launched this new service as a means of using its algorithmic might to penetrate the highly crowded social media infiltrating internet users’ online profiles. The service revolves around the idea of helping users organize their online activities in a better way.

“It’s becoming harder and harder to find signal in the noise,” said Bradley Horowitz, Google’s vice president of product management during a launch event.
Google is rolling out Buzz to all gmail subscribers with a new tab which appears under the inbox tab within their gmail account. Google has also revealed plans to monetize buzz by integrating it into its business service.

How it works?

Buzz explores a person’s list of contacts and creates an auto-follow list of people they interact with regularly through email. It also allow users the option of sharing status updates with either all of their contacts or with a private group.

Users can also share links and see what their friends are posting to sites like YouTube, Flickr and Twitter while being able to access everything within their Gmail window.

Besides this, buzz enables people to send a direct message to someone using the twitter’s popular ‘@ format’. What’s more? Buzz also gives users posts and links to other useful content based on what their friends are talking about or the content of their own buzz. When anyone comments on your buzz the Gmail sends you an email which includes all the comments and images related to the buzz you’ve posted.

Users can access buzz through their cell phones in three ways – first, through the company’s standard Google mobile homepage, second, from a special buzz application, which is available for only iPhone and Android users at present and third, through Google’s mobile maps application which is available only for Nokia Symbian, Windows Mobile and android users currently.

If you’re using a Smartphone with built in GPS technology, buzz will geotag posts with a user’s current location and will also show the posts of other people using buzz in your location.

By introducing a service with more personal relevance for web users and which will encourage them to spend more time on Google’s sites, the company is expecting to play a major role in the social networking.
And as far as the question of Buzz posing threat to Facebook or twitter will depend on the users’ response this latest Gmail feature and how well it blends the experience between Mobile and Computer devices.

There is only single speaker in the back with mini USB port and 10 pin connector that interfaces with the included suction-cup cradle at the bottom of Nuvi 1690. Cradle is look like ever-actuated suction cup and is also equipped with a Mini-USB port for connecting the included 12-volt car charger. Thare are many changes in the software also which make it more user friendly menus icons have received a graphical refresh and are now more colorful with finer gradients and reflection effects. Also the menus button in the map also decreed in size and been moved o the lower-left corner of the screen, and relabeled Back. But the home screen now big with top status bar and new icons fir GPS strenght. Bluetooth connectivity, navigation mode (driving, walking, or bicycling), the current time, the current temperature, NuLink signal strength, and battery state.
