Tej Kohli and Graphic Design

What is Graphic Design and what are the career prospects available from doing it?

Graphic design’s primary function is to enable someone to better understand an issue by way of visual problem solving using text and/or graphical elements, such as pie charts, bar carts and graphs, as well as pictures, maps, diagrams and even animations.

It’s not enough for the graphic to “look good”. It has to serve its purpose, and be easily understood in as short a time as possible by the end viewer.

About.com defines it this way:

“Graphic design is the process and art of combining text and graphics and communicating an effective message in the design of logos, graphics, brochures, newsletters, posters, signs, and any other type of visual communication. Today’s graphic designers often use desktop publishing software and techniques to achieve their goals.”
