Rumours are doing rounds that Apple may launch the fifth edition of iPhone on some date in June this year. Tej Kohli blog brings the complete report for its readers.

The buzz around the June release of iPhone 5 had Apple users scurrying to clarify a South Korean news site’s report that Steve Jobs would launch the fifth-generation smart-phone during the Apple’s worldwide developer’s conference in San Francisco.

The aforesaid news site reported Monday that unnamed industry officials had confirmed a June release date for the iPhone 5. Accroding to the site, the release could happen on June 4 or 6 at the WWDC, which is slated for June 6 to 10.

Another thing that the report highlighted is the availability of iPhone 5 to the south Korean buyers via local carriers KT and SK Telecom before the June end.

Tej Kohli noticed that the report also defies a couple of other iPhone related things. Earlier in March, Sony CEO Howard Stinger told Wall Street Journal that a camera sensor plant had been crippled after the March Tohuku earthquake, causing delay in the shipment of parts.

Furthermore, if one gives credence to another report that Sony will replace Omnivision for supplying cameras to for the Apple’s new iPhone version, that disclosure becomes meaningful.

What that adds to it the the latest rumour that Apple is postponing the iPhone 5 release to the fall, and its not surprising to see people being skeptical about the South Korean news report.

But the chances of South Koreans receiving a new version of iPhone just within a few months after Apple started selling iPhone 4 there are remote. Further, with iPhone4 still selling like hotcakes and possible obstacles in Apple’s ability to seamlessly integrate the 4G technology into its new handset, it doesn’t make sense for the company to launch iPhone5 in the market.

Still, if we look back at the Apple previous product release patterns appeared over the past few years for example the release cycles for Apple’s iOS-driven devices seem to be getting tighter and Apple’s iPad edition 2 was released less than a year after the first one was unveiled. So, the question is – is the company actually going to teeter its iPhone releases by 15 months or more.

“After taking all the aforesaid things into consideration the idea of launching iPhone 5 does’nt seem too good at the moment”, says Tej Kohli.

Planning to buy the iPhone 4? Well, before you do that, read this review at Tej Kohli Blog, and find out if this new phone is worth your buck!

June 2010 brought the most awaited super-gizmo of the year – The iPhone 4 by Apple! While Apple claims it “the biggest leap since the original iPhone”, most buyers are apprehensive about shelling out $199 and subscribing with AT&T for another 2 years without even knowing what they are getting!

With more than 1500 upgrades available, what leaves us wondering is which of these are really important. Although it wont be wrong to say that iPhone 4 has surpassed every other smart phone by leaps and bounds, but if you really discard your iPhone 3, you should know what is fluff and what is not? And above anything else, does it make financial sense to buy one?

While the new model is bursting with myriad of cool features, you may still need more reasons to make up your mind. So, here’s a look at some of the most outstanding features of iPhone 4, only at Tej Kohli Blog.

It is slimmer – Almost 25% thinner than its previous version, iPhone 4 measures only 0.37 inch and looks incredibly thin!

Improved Screen Resolution – boasting of Apple’s Retina display, iPhone 4 offers an amazing 960×640 pixel resolution, which is four times greater than iPhone 3GS. Even the net HTC Evo 4G has a screen resolution of 800×480 pixels. Steve Jobs of APPLE Inc. claimed that the Retina display of iPhone 4 offer better resolution than naked human eyes. With this high resolution, the users will now be able to see smoother lines and richer details. The quality of information on a 960×640 pixel screen is practically comparable with most printed magazines.

Front facing Camera – apart from the rear facing camera, iPhone 4 features an additional 5-megapixel front facing camera, both of which are equipped with LED flash and are capable of recording HD video. And as an extra treat, it has a photo and geotagging feature.

Multitasking – One of the major advantages of Apple’s new operating system iOS4, also called iPhone OS 4.0 is that it is capable of running third party applications simultaneously. Apple has laid out 7 multitasking services which will work with iOS4. These are background audio streaming, VOIP, background location, local notifications, push notifications, task completion and fast app switching. However, iPhone4 is not the only phone that can multitask, many android devices are also equally good. You can also upgrade your iPhone 3GS to the new iOS4, rather than shelling out for a new phone.

Better Video calling – Despite creating a no-so-good impression during its demo at WWDC, Apple’s FaceTime feature is already getting rave reviews from the critics. Laptop Mag calls the cutting-edge video calling application elegant and easy to use. It said that Apple has designed not just a phone that enables a smooth video chat, but has also taken the software experiences into its own hands to make it an integral part of the OS, which is as easy to use and any other feature in iOS4.

However, iPhone 4 doesn’t have an exclusive in video chatting, but if reviews are to be believed it is easier to install and use that its other counterparts, including the likes of HTC Evo 4G. Apple’s new iPhone ad also place emphasis on the latest picture-in-picture call feature.

Longer battery life – the new, longer-lasting battery of the iPhone 4 promises to deliver up to 7 hours of 3G talk time, 6 hours of 3G internet browsing, 10 hours of web surfing on wi-fi, 10 hours of video playback, 40 hours of audio playback , and a whopping 300 hours of standby time. As compared to the HTC Evo 4G and Droid Incredible, the iPhone 4 boasts the longest battery life.

Get an upgrade from AT&T – Many were unhappy to discover that iPhone 4 would be tethered to AT & T, which is notorious for its erratic service and the recent step to quash unlimited data plans. Whether AT&T’s service will improve remains to be seen, the company is offering what Apple describes as a generous offer, that says if you are an AT&T subscriber and eligible for an upgrade anytime in 2010, you can buy the iPhone 4 on launch day at the subsidized cost of $199 or $299, given that you renew your contract.

It is Faster – the iPhone 4 is powered with the same A4 processor as the iPad, which ensures to make the iPhone faster than ever. While its hard to perceive the differences between an iPhone 4 and iPhone 3Gs, but the former definitely looks snappier, almost as fast as iPad.

Gyroscope – iPhone 4 features a multi-axis gyroscope, which allows the phone to measure velocity, as well as orientation. This will make is gaming experience more realistic and engaging.

Apple’s ipad, a new iphone-esque mobile computing device, may have a lot of new features, but it still has a lot of features missing in it. Tej Kohli Blog enlists the 10 important features it does not have:

1. Flash: The ipad uses safari browser which doesn’t have flash, just like the iphone. This is a huge drawback.

2. No camera: It does not have a user facing camera to enable video conferencing/video chats. This feature was at top on the list of expected features, but apple disappointed users.

3. No multitasking: Even though apple has rearranged iPhone’s OS in a new way to work on the new apple iPad, it still fails to run the background processes. This again is a big detractor.

4. No Verizon: Verizon Wireless is not providing the 3G wireless service which comes as a choice with iPad. Instead of Verizon, AT&T is providing this service.

5. No wide screen display: Although you can watch HD movies on its 9.7-inches display, it fails to match the 16:9 standard screen dimension that many of the other modern devices support.

6. No Mac OS: The iPad works on a new processor A4, manufactured by the Apple itself. It runs at 1GHz, which appears suitable for an iPhone OS, but it doesn’t run the more efficient full OS X, something which would have really made the device rock.

7. No GPS: There is an accelerometer for a great gaming experience, but there is no GPS. This means Google Maps will have to rely on 3G and/or Wi-fi to locate the iPad. Too much to replace your smartphone.

8. Enough Storage: iPad can sync content with iTunes and users can add/remove content as they wish, but the maximum space of 64 GB is not sufficient, especially for those who are a lot into games, movies and music.

9.Removable Battery: Following the footsteps of iPhone and the newer laptops, which don’t have a user-removable battery.

10. No HDM1: It doesn’t feature an HDM1 port, which makes it incompatible with all the modern HDTVs.

Here is good news for all iPhone and iPod Touch users! Directed Electronics, the car security company, has introduced a brand new iPhone application, which would allow users to control parts of their Viper SmartStart-enabled vehicle from their iPhone or iPod Touch.

The application is called Viper SmartStart. It is somewhat similar to the Zipcar’s recently launched iPhone application, except that it works only with your personal car, and not the one you’ve hired for a short while. Like the Zipcar’s application, it too forms a virtual keychain control options that includes locking or unlocking your car, opening the trunk and turning on alarm. So, as long as you have your iPhone handy you don’t need to carry that extra keychain along.

SmartStart’s coolest feature is its ‘Smart Start’ button, displayed right at the center of the screen, which can start your car at one push. In simple terms, this feature allows you to defrost or cool off your car before getting in, provided that you set the climate controls at accurate levels the last time you were inside the car.

As the application utilizes the iPhone data connection to transmit the commands, it allows you to control your car/s from anywhere with 3G or EDGE connectivity. If you’re near a Wi-Fi network, you can also use it as a non-cellular data device like iPod Touch.

Though this application is available free of charge, you must have a Viper’s SmartStart system installed in each of the car/s you want to take control of. The new installation would cost you about $499. For those who already have a Viper Alarm System plus an active subscription to Viper’s SmartStart Service, the installation charges are about $299.

On getting the service installed, buyers also get a year of $29.99 service included in that, for which they have to pay afterwards.
