The Tej Kohli Foundation, founded by Mr. Tej Kohli in 2005, is advising people to be vigilant when considering relief programs for Haiti earthquake, as security firms are already spotting scam emails circulating on the web.
After the Tuesday’s earthquake in Haiti, which hit 7.3 on Richter scale, charities and non-profit organizations are joining forces to help the earthquake victims. Unfortunately, a lot of scam organizations have also sprung up to capitalize on the Haiti disaster.
The Tej Kohli foundation suggests people to make donations only through the legitimate and popular organizations such as the American Red Cross, or the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund. Following the reports of unscrupulous organizations taking advantage of the Haiti tragedy, using internet as a medium, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, or FBI has recently issued an advisory for those wanting to donate money via internet. Before making any sort of donation online, people must adhere to the following guidelines:
